Full Hearts - A Super Bible Verse Activity For Your Preschoolers For Psalm 119-11

Psalm 119:11 says, "I have hidden your Word in my heart that I might not sin against You." I have always loved this Bible verse. I think it's because as a child I liked hiding my special treasures in little nooks and crannies. My daughter must have taken after me, because we were always finding her little trinkets in the oddest places. Well, God's Word is the most precious treasure we have and God wants us to hide it in our hearts. Here is a fun Bible verse activity to help get your little ones to understand this important truth. It's called "Full Hearts". Just follow the simple directions.

Here's what you do:
The next time you make frozen lemonade or juice, save the cans. Take 4 cans and cover one each with construction paper in these 4 colors: red, blue, yellow, and green. Now attach a heart cut out of the same color to the same color of can. Next prepare several colored tongue depressors in red, blue, yellow and green with different Bible verses written on them. Choose Scriptures that are short and appropriate for preschoolers. Prepare 4 tongue depressors per child in your class. Hide the tongue depressors around the room. Finally, make up some number cards that have either a one or a two on them and place them in a bag or bucket. You are now ready to play the game.

Read Psalm 119:11 to your children. Explain that God wants us to hide His Word in our hearts. We can do this by reading or memorizing Bible verses. Tell your little ones that you have hidden lots of Bible verses around the room. It's their job to find them when it's their turn. Show the children the four heart cans and the bag of number cards. Let one child pick a number out of the bag. Tell him that he gets to go and find the number of verses he picked - one or two. Once he finds a Bible verse tongue depressor, have him bring it to you so that you can read it. Then have him place it in the can with the matching color. After each child has taken a turn say, "I have hidden your Word in my heart so that I might not sin against you." Play this way until all the Bible verses have been found.
